On board the spritsail rigged coasting barge Her Majesty (1897) in the Thames estuary. Three of the crew are hoisting the dinghy under the starboard quarter davits. The barge has a cargo of wooden crates stacked on her main hatch and the photographer is looking aft and to starboard from the aft end of these crates.
