HMS 'Warrior' protecting a convoy passing Reefness, September 1807
This painting is recorded as showing the 'Warrior', 74 guns, with a captured Danish lugger ahead of her, protecting a convoy of 315 sail as they pass the Danish fort of Reefness (Raefnes) which is firing on them from the headland to the left. The date suggested in existing notes is September 1807 although 'Warrior' was not part of Admiral Gambier's fleet in the attack on Copenhagen in the summer of that year. The picture is part of the Macpherson Collection and in the Museum record as first listed in 1927 but this is the only information so far noted about it and on what authority is unknown. Further information is being sought. It is signed 'W A Knell', lower right [PvdM 3/21]
