Two Mounts Bay pilot gigs ashore, Penzance
An elevated stern view of two Mounts Bay pilot gigs, with a smaller gig partially visible to the left. The gig nearest to the camera is about 20ft long, and has six thwarts including the sternsheets, but no rig. In contrast the slightly shorter gig to the right has two thwarts besides the sternsheets, the foremost of which supports a mast. A crude centreboard case lies between the two thwarts. Forward of the mast is a bulkhead with a short foredeck.
