Leigh-on-Sea

A bawley is seen bow-on with mooring ropes running towards the quay on which the photographer is apparently standing. A rowing boat is tied up at its bow. On the port deck a fisherman bends to a task on deck. Nets are apparently clustered about the port shrouds. Immediately astern and to the left lies another bawley moored with sails lowered, seen from just to port of its bow, with one crew member standing on the starboard deck amidships, and two more standing at the stern, in front of a lifebuoy tied to the aft stays. Several more, mostly smaller, fishing boats are shown moored in the middle distance astern of the two bawleys shown in the foreground.
