Deal galleys Our Boys and Undaunted
The two galleys shown in P74977 are seen in this picture from astern. On the left of each is the winch used to haul these boats up the steep shingle beach at Deal, and on the keel below the transom of each boat is fastened the chain to which winch wires or chains are attached when the boats are towed ashore. A sail still laced to a mast hangs over the port gunwale of the right-hand boat.
