Hythe, Kent fishing vessels

The Hythe fishing boat Gratitude (regd FE46) is seen here aground, close up, from just to port of the bow. A wooden ladder rests against the gunwale amidships, between the trawl boards of the boat's nets. The lands of the clinker planking are reinforced with additional wooden planks for a section some 3-4ft long on the port bow quarter, below where the forward trawl board rests on the gunwale. Two light mooring chains hang either side of the stem, joined to heavier ground chains at the foot of the bow.
