Hastings luggers

The lugger shown beached in this negative, viewed from the starboard bow quarter, may be the Primrose, whose stern is shown in negative P75384; the registration number is obscured, save for the first four characters RX14, by fishing gear fixed to the gunwale. The image shows the traveller which draws the tack of the lugger's jib forward to the outboard end of the bowsprit, and atop the mizzen mast, a weather vane in the form of a model lugger. On the starboard stern quarter a trawl board and chain hang from a pin inboard of the gunwale.
