Eastbourne fishing boats

An eliptical lute-sterned, clinker-built Eastbourne lugger regd NN81 is viewed here from the port side, heeled over to starboard while beached at Eastbourne. The view of the boat confirms that it is equipped with a single auxiliary engine and the iron or steel rudder common to eliptical lute sterned boats. Behind the forward-raked mizzen mast rises the steel rudder post, to which is fixed the acutely curved tiller designed to circumvent the mizzen mast.
