Eastbourne sprat boat
This portrait view of the ca. 25ft lute-sterned, clinker-built Eastbourne lugger William and Dorothy, regd NN145, beached, shows the boat seen bow-on, with no sails set but the mizzen mast stepped with one shroud and one halyard, and a chain hanging from the stem head, apparently for hauling the boat up and down the beach. A ring on the port side of the stem appears suited to carry a bowsprit in case of a jib being hoisted ahead of the dipping lug foresail.
