Open fifie, Oban
In the foreground, heeled towards the photographer, is a beamy, clinker-built double-ended open fifie, aground in Oban. A motor launch named Ethel with a substantial stern cabin, some punts, and a partly obscured larger vessel lie nearby. Two steamers lie at anchor in the distance. The fifie, apparently some 18ft in length and over 6ft in beam, has four rowing thwarts and a fifth thwart with a mast bracket in the bows.
