Filey salmon coble Joan and Robin
This photograph, reproduced in The Chatham Directory of Inshore Craft, shows a clinker-built Filey coble, named Joan and Robin and registered SH 67. It also bears 'A3' on the sheer plank in front of the registration number. Some 19ft long, the Joan and Robin carries a lugsail set with a high clew typical of the type, which the Chatham Directory's editors note has five reef points - "blunt testimony to the sorts of weather that a coble was intended to stand up to".
