Itchen ferry, Woolston, Southampton
An Itchen Ferry regd. SO26, ca. 30ft long, is seen from the starboard side, resting on legs on muddy shingle at Woolston. No name is visible on the boat, whose paintwork is sufficiently damaged to suggest that it may not be in commission. The mast is stepped but neither rudder nor bowsprit are in place. The image confirms the vertical stern common to the Itchen Ferry type. In the foreground are the sterns of two small open boats.
