Portland lerret Comrades at Portland
This image of the Portland lerret Comrades resting on shingle, taken from the port stern quarter, shows its start rope coiled around its high sternpost. Four oars rest on their tholes. Beneath the lettering of its home port, Portland, is a simple depiction of a fish the shape of the mackerel for which lerrets mainly fished.
