Morecambe Bay shrimper SM100 at Newhaven

This close-up, stern-on view of a Morecambe Bay shrimper regd SM100 shows it in Newhaven harbour moored aground against pilings on its port side. The lute stern of the type shows in this case damage where the central part of the vertical bulwark timber has apparently broken off. The view emphasises the relatively beamy, shallow-keeled hull form of the type, and shows the boat to be equipped with an engine driving its twin-blade propeller to port of the rudder. A board of unknown purpose rests on the aft section of the deck below the aft end of the boat's boom.
