Selsey galley hauled up

A clinker-built Selsey galley is seen from the starboard side hauled up on shelving shingle at Selsey. Its length is not easy to estimate accurately, but apparently 30ft or more. Two pieces of canvas hanging over the gunwale obscure some of the square rowlocks cut into the gunwale. Buildings and a rigged sailing fishing boat lying aground are visible in the background behind the galley.
