Portsmouth fishing vessels
A carvel-built open or half-decked gaff-rigged fishing boat of some 20ft in length is seen from the starboard beam moored in Portsmouth Harbour, rafted up to a further, similar vessel. The boat's bowsprit has not been withdrawn, but its foresails are not hoisted, unlike the mainsail, although the peak of its gaff has been lowered to horizontal. Three more similar vessels are seen to the right. To the left in the background is part of the Fraser & White depot, and to the right, another, unidentified harbourside building.
