This image of the 2nd class wherry Why Not is taken from its starboard side. The boat is aground on mud in Portsmouth Harbour with a similar boat directly behind iy and several other boats of similar dimensions, but not double-ended, in the background. On the street above the quay beyond the boats are a number of buildings including a Gales pub, the Navy Tavern, Gieves the tailors, the Portsea branch Post Office, and the Old London pub.
