Copies of Gibson's photos c.1880

An extensive view of Newlyn harbour looking seaward with a few inshore luggers moored against the pier on the left margin and more luggers including mackerel drivers, and some gaff-rigged boats, moored in the harbour basin with the south breakwater and Penlee Point in the distance. Upturned clinker-built tenders rest on the quay in the foreground. One lugger has a yard hoisted between her fore- and mizzen masts, from which hang drying nets. The number of vessels on view is substantially smaller than the total of the local fleet of the period.
