Blyth, Northumberland, coble under repair

In this image of coble BH39 under repair, seen from the port side on the ground outside a shed at Blyth, two planks below the sheer plank have been renewed in Douglas fir, as yet unpainted, but an aft section of the sheer plank has been removed. The boat is propped amidships and further aft. The image, taken from the port bow quarter, emphasises the depth of the coble type's bow section by comparison with its relatively shallow, steeply raked stern.
