Dover fore-mizzen punt Argonaut

The Dover punt Argonaut, regd DR56, ca 18ft, is seen here stern-on, beached facing inland to the buildings and chalk cliffs of the eastern end of Dover harbour. The boat's name and home port are written on its transom. A mizzen mast is stepped immediately starboard of the (absent) rudder and an iron band fixed to the top of the transom has a loop corresponding to a semi-circular cut-out below to house the bumkin to which the boat's mizzen would be sheeted. Part of a similar punt is visible on the left of the picture.
