Eastbourne lugger Star of the East
The Eastbourne lugger Star of the East, regd NN66, is seen here from the starboard stern quarter, the boat's lute stern being the most prominent feature, with its name painted on the board above the stern planking. A steel rudder aft of the propeller, which projects from the sternpost which is at least 4ft forward of the end of the stern, appears to have been partially raised, the rudder post projecting up above the gunwale. Two oars are lashed to the starboard topsides. Both masts are stepped. The mizzen mast appears to be slightly raked forwards, while the foremast is apparently vertical.
