Fleetwood shrimper at Newhaven
An unnamed ex-Fleetwood shrimper, Shoreham-regd as SM100 is shown moored afloat at the foot of a jetty in front of a clapboard building with a curved steel sheet roof. See from the starboard side at a distance of perhaps 50m, the boat's curved stem and eliptical 'coaster' or 'tug' stern are given prominence. A foresail is flying above a long bowsprit which has been withdrawn aft, and the mainsail is apparently being lowered, with a crew member standing at the stern end of the boom, his back to the camera, gathering in the canvas. The boat has a doghouse, as if converted to use as a cruising yacht. (H.O. Hill notebook also quotes image No. 440 for the same subject in its entry for image S553)
