Fleetwood trawlers at Fleetwood
The Fleetwood trawlers Margaret, regd FD208, and Harriet (1893), regd FD111, are shown from forward of their bows, tied up to a jetty with the Harriet rafted onto the Margaret. Sails and running rigging are in place, and fishing gear is ready for use on deck. Further, smaller sailing fishing boats are moored beyond and behind the main subjects. The Chatham Directory of Inshore Craft records that the Harriet, regd FD111, was built by Hugh Singleton in 1893 at Fleetwood and measured 60.1ft with beam of 16.8ft and a draft of 9.5ft. The Directory adds that by 1929 the Harriet had been fitted with a auxiliary engine. Its beam trawl was 40-50ft long and was hauled by a steam capstan.
