Folkestone luggers at Folkestone
A carvel Folkestone lugger is moored with legs aground, stem towards the wharf at Folkestone, above which the roofs of houses form the background. The lugger, viewed from the ground to port, has a deep transom stern unlike the luggers depicted in negatives P76236 and P76237, and a straight vertical stem. Its fore- and mizzen masts are stepped. The yard of the mizzen, laced to the sail, is fastened at a near-vertical angle to the mizzen mast.
