The Hastings lugger EVG, regd RX152, and another lugger regd RX61 whose name is not visible, are viewed from forward and to port of their bows. The former boat's fine clinker planking is in evidence. Fine-meshed nets hang from its mizzen mast and over the port gunwale. Its long bowsprit and traveller for foresail luff wire are shown, while the bowsprit of the boat on the right of the image has been retracted from the iron ring through which it would extend over the port side of the stem. The bow of the boat on the right is partly obscured by a large wooden box on the beach in front of it.
