St Ives gig in the harbour, dried out

A double-ended clinker-built St Ives pilot gig some 18ft long, said in H.O. Hill's notebook to bear the name Nancy Thomas, is viewed bow-on, aground and heeled to starboard in St Ives harbour. Beyond it, also aground, is a larger, carvel-built mackerel driver regd SS78, whose name painted on the bows is indecipherable without greater magnification. The gig in the foreground has six thwarts, many ropes lying in its stern, and rope fenders hanging from its gunwales.
