Newlyn, landing pilchards
A Newlyn lugger, the Emulate, regd PZ208 is seen from astern, moored aground in shallow water, its bow against the slipway of Newlyn's old harbour, unloading its catch. The glassy-smooth water of the harbour reflects the boat's profile. The Emulate has a dipping lug foresail and standing lug mizzen, but has had a wheelhouse fitted in front of its mizzen mast. It has a transom stern. Alongside it is another, similar lugger whose name and registration number are illegible.
