Newlyn, landing pilchards

A Newlyn lugger, the Emulate, regd PZ208 is seen from the starboard side, moored aground in shallow water, its bow against the slipway of Newlyn's old harbour, unloading its catch. The glassy-smooth water of the harbour reflects the boat's profile. The Emulate has a dipping lug foresail and standing lug mizzen, but has had a wheelhouse fitted in front of its mizzen mast. It has a transom stern. Beyond it alongside is another, similar lugger whose name and registration number are illegible. A punt is tied up alongside nearer the camera.
