Newlyn, landing pilchards

A Newlyn lugger, the Emulate, regd PZ208 is seen from the starboard side, moored aground in shallow water, its bow against the slipway of Newlyn's old harbour, unloading its catch. The flat water of the harbour reflects the boat's profile. The Emulate has a fore-lugsail and lug mizzen, but has had a wheelhouse fitted in front of its mizzen mast. It has a transom stern. Beyond it alongside is another, similar lugger whose name and registration number are illegible.Ten fish baskets stand on the slipway above the Emulate's bow.
