The Makkah Masjid in Hyderabad

A black and white landscape photograph of the Makkah Masjid (also Mecca Masjid) in Hyderabad. Scattered groups of people, including a man on horseback, can be seen around the paved area in front of the building. Five pointed arches and two onion-dome minarets at the corner of the building are visible. Two of the arches have wooden scaffolding across them. This is the eastern facade facing the wuzu khana (ablution pond). Original caption: ‘The Mucca Musjid Hyderabad’.

This mosque was constructed during the 1600s by Sultan Muhammad Qutb Shah and Emperor Aurangzeb. It is the second largest mosque in India.
