Elizabeth II dining on board HMS Vanguard, 15 June 1953
A group portrait showing Elizabeth II dining on board HMS 'Vanguard', 15 June 1953. The Queen is seated at a long dining table which stretches diagonally across the composition. She is seated to the left, facing right in profile, and wears a diamond tiara and a necklace, a white dress and gloves, and the blue sash and badge of the Garter. Her hands are clasped in her lap. Opposite sits the Duke of Edinburgh in mess dress naval uniform. On either side of the table, decorated with silver table laps and floral arrangements, are male guests in white tie and mess dress uniform. The figure facing left at the extreme right of the picture appears to be Lord Louis Mountbatten.
