Two Sri Lankan people with a well

A black and white photograph of two Sri Lankan people with a well. The well, on the left of the image, has a stone rim approached by two stone steps. A winching mechanism is attached by brackets to the covered top, with a coil of rope and bucket visible. A boy, facing the camera, is standing on the ground with his back to the well and a man, half turned towards the left of the image, sits on one of the brackets, higher up. Both people wear sarong-like garments on their legs, shirts or jackets and are barefoot. The well sits at the base of a tree or cluster of trees with palm-like leaves. A cart-mounted barrel is visible at the base, the shafts of the cart, which have a yoke at the front, resting on the ground. A round pot can be seen on the ground in the centre of the photograph. The tiled roof of a building can be seen in the background to the right of the image. Original caption (beneath the photograph, typed): ‘BANYAN PALM AND VILLAGE WELL CEYLON’.
