A black and white photograph of a street in Peradeniya. A girl and a man stand near to them, towards the middle of the street, with a blurred animal, possibly a chicken, on the far side. A row of single-storey buildings can be seen can be seen lining the street on the right side of the image, with groups of people standing around what may be a shop. A covered, two-wheeled cart, its shafts empty, is parked between buildings. At least one cart and several pedestrians can be seen passing along the street in the background. The tops of palms trees are visible behind the buildings on both sides of the street. Original caption (beneath the photograph, typed): ‘HIGH STREET, PERIDENIA, CEYLON’.
