'Little Lizzie': the battleship, HMS 'Queen Elizabeth', in the Dardanelles, 1915
Inscribed by the artist 'Little Lizzie', lower right, this is the battleship 'Queen Elizabeth' in her original rig and fitted with a stern walk. It shows her firing her main armament in port broadside, with a coastline behind, and is presumably meant to depict her doing coastal bombardment during her service in the Dardanelles, from 19 February 1915 to early May 1915. The destroyers are not identifiable but are probably 'River' (E)-class boats.
