'Battle cruisers in the Forth'
Inscribed by the artist, as title, lower right in pencil. The ship seen in this fairly rapid sketch, in stern view with booms out on the left, is the 'Tiger' (1913): the one on the right is 'Princess Royal' (1911). The vessels in the background appear to be light cruisers. The date is 1916-17. The tug shown astern of 'Tiger' is a good demonstration of Wyllie's ability to conjure-up a convincingly recognizable image of a vessel with no more than a rapid sketch in solid black silhouette.
