Five aircraft studies: a Bristol Fighter and four (in pencil) of flying boats

Inscribed by the artist, lower left in pencil 'Bristol fighter'. The Bristol F2 fighter aircraft first flew in September 1916 and 52 F2As were built before the faster F2B was introduced. About 1800 of these were built during the First World War but production continued post-war and 5329 were finally produced up to 1927. The 'Brisfit' remained in RAF squadron service until 1932, equipping 39 squadrons. It was also operated by 18 countries in most continents. The smaller pencil sketches are Curtiss H4 or H12 America flying boats, or Felixstowe F2A or F3 flying boats. Two show the aircraft taxiing on water (one from ahead, one astern), two in the air.
