Royal Salute, Tower of London
A Royal Salute at the Tower of London, one of the many studies of the Thames and its shipping by the marine artist William Lionel Wyllie (1851-1931). A number of vessels are depicted on the river in front of the Tower, including a couple of Thames barges, one with its mainmast lowered, lighters and a steam tug. Beneath the image it is inscribed 'Aquatint partly cleaned off'.
