Study of the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916; HMS 'Champion' leading destroyers at about 16.05
Signed by artist, lower right, this drawing shows the light cruiser 'Champion' leading the 13th Destroyer Flotilla ahead of the battlecruisers (1st Battlecruiser Squadron) at about 16.05 on 31 May 1916. The German battlecruisers were between 15,000 and 21,000 yards away to port. The two ships under fire on the left are the battlecruisers 'Lion' (Beatty's flagship) with the 'Princess Royal' astern of her. See also PAF2178.
