Opening of Tower Bridge
A watercolour of the celebrations and pageantry at the opening of Tower Bridge in 1894, at which Wyllie and his wife were present. Beneath are a number of colour trials. Tower Bridge became one of Wyllie's favourite Thames subjects. This watercolour shows how Wyllie worked rapidly in the medium and tested his colours around the edge of his piece of paper.
