London Bridge
Two steamships rafted together in the Pool of London with a Thames barge alongside. Behind them is London Bridge with the twin Victorian towers of Cannon Street station beyond, right.
As well as marine paintings, the London-born seapainter Wyllie also painted ship portraits, and especially pictures of Navy battleships. During the mid-1870s he spent much time on a barge, converted into a floating studio, going up and down the Thames.
