An uncaptioned black and white landscape photograph showing two Japanese women looking at a a deer with the 'floating' torii (shrine gateway) of Itsukushima Shrine behind. The women are on the right side of the image and stood on a beach, one with her back to the camera and one half turned with her right shoulder towards the camera. Both wear kimonos and are looking at the deer, which is on the far right of the image. The deer is facing the camera with its head turned to the right of the image. The torii of Itsukushima Shrine is visible on the left side of the image, its feet in the sea. The gateway has four added pillars, one on either side of its two legs. These legs and the pillars are reflected in the sea beneath. Behind the women, in the background, two stationary boats can be seen in the sea.
