HMS 'Southampton', as flagship of the 7th Light Cruise Squadron
This was previously identified as the light cruiser 'Southampton' (1912) when flagship of the 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron at the time of Jutland, which is not the case. This drawing shows her at moorings - probably at Portsmouth - as flagship of Rear-Admiral Allen T. Hunt, flag officer of the 7th Light Cruiser Squadron, and probably just before she left the UK in May 1919 for the South American Station. The ship had an aeroplane platform fitted over her forecastle gun in January 1918 and it was removed in January-February 1919. The range clock shown on the foremast was fitted at the same time as the removal of the platform.
