HMS 'Canada', battleship
Inscribed by the artist, 'Canada', lower right. This is a reasonably good mid-distant, port-broadside depiction of the battleship 'Canada' (1913), as she was in 1918, except that the bridge area is not particularly accurate and the position of the derrick post is slightly too far aft. The technique of grey and orange wash is unusual but effective, presumably indicating a sunset, and the location may be Scapa Flow.
