HMS 'Albion', battleship, as east-coast guardship, 1916
Signed by artist, lower left, and inscribed at the bottom 'Albion' (partly trimmed off), this is a reasonably good depiction of the battleship 'Albion' (1898) in 1916 with stockless anchors, shortened topmasts, and with anti-aircraft guns fitted for her service as a guardship on the east coast.
Exactly where she is shown is not clear, but the other shipping including naval launches and Thames barges suggests possibly the Nore or outer Medway.
