Rochester Bridge and Barge
This is one of several studies for '"Heave Away": barges upward bound, shooting Rochester Bridge', which Wyllie exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1884. Mrs Wyllie, herself a yachtswoman, was the model for the female figure. The drawing illustrates Wyllie's thorough knowledge of craft such as Thames barges, and his desire for accuracy.
