'HMS Lion in the Forth'
Signed by the artist and inscribed , as title, lower right. The battlecruiser 'Lion' is shown in starboard-bow view, at moorings and with her forward guns trained to starboard. She is wearing the flag of Vice-Admiral Sir William C. Pakenham and she has rangefinder baffles fitted to the foremast, so the date shown has to be1917. The cruiser on the right is apparently one of the 'Caledon' class.
