HMS 'Lion' and 'Princess Royal' at anchor, probably in the Forth in early 1916

Signed by the artist, lower right, this drawing shows the battlecruisers 'Lion' (left) and 'Princess Royal' (right) in 1916 but before the Battle of Jutland on 31 May, since they both still have torpedo nets. The location is almost certainly the Firth of Forth since the high land beyond appears to be Arthur's Seat, behind Edinburgh. Naval steam pinnaces and other boats pass in the foreground.
