Mr. Gibbons & Mrs. Gibbons
Mezzotint print made after a lost painting (c.1691) by John Closterman. Born in Rotterdam, Gibbons emigrated to England in 1667, after completing his apprenticeship. He first worked in York under the architect and builder John Etty (c.1634–1708).
