Wolter Jan Gerrit Bentinck (1745-1781), rear-admiral of Holland and West-Friesland, died during the naval battle of the Dogger Bank on 5 August 1781 during the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War, part of the War of American Independence, in the North Sea.
