Dy'e Mind the Roll She Gave. Dinner Time at Sea
Hand-coloured. This lithograph depicts the hazards of meal times at sea in rough weather.
This lithograph depicts the hazards of meal times at sea in rough weather. Seamen in Royal Naval ships ate on the gun deck - the mess tables were fixed between each gun. The sailor had to buy his own crockery so when a piece needed replacing, he had to buy tin or wooden plates from the purser.
